Author Description
Ken's short story, Hypergraphia, was nominated for for the Bram Stoker Award for Superior Achievement in the field of horror writing. The Bram Stoker Awards are presented by the Horror Writers Association each year and named in honor of Bram Stoker, author of the seminal horror work Dracula.
Ken Lillie-Paetz was first published in the comic book industry with the nearly simultaneous releases of Monkey In A Wagon vs. Lemur On A Big Wheel and the esoteric horror series, Elsinore. But this was all really just to voice his opinions in print on the “big issues” like "Why Lemurs and Monkeys Can't Get Along" and "How To Avoid The Apocalypse By Attacking Heaven and Hell First”. His fiction has now appeared in various publications and will soon be seen again in the Horror Writers Association’s anthology, Blood Lite III – Aftertaste (published by Pocket Books).
Ken is also an Art Director where he oversees an art team to take his image designs and conceptual work to finished product. He has provided story illustrations or book covers for many of today’s leading horror authors (though his true artistic talent seems to be drawing lumpy headed stick people and weird spidery things that he insists are rats).
Ken was the Art Director for Doorways Magazine (which won the 2009 Black Quill Editor’s Choice Award for Best Dark Genre Short Fiction Magazine). He has provided the designs for story illustrations for some of today’s leading horror authors such as Clive Barker, Jonathan Maberry, Gary A. Braunbeck, Sarah Langan, and Bentley Little.
Ken is also an artist-educator with the Royal Conservatory’s Learning Through The Arts program. (Where he teaches elementary school children by integrating the school curriculum with the art form of comic book creation.)
Whatever else Mr. Lillie-Paetz may or may not do is sure to end up on his website ---
